| Watercolours on show at Palace House |
May 2010 |
The Society of East Anglian Watercolourists (SEAW) draws its membership from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Currently there are 100 members ranging from professionals to those who do not paint at all.
The Society holds two exhibitions a year and in 2010, both are at Palace House in Newmarket. The October exhibition is 'selective'. The selection committee normally includes at least one member of the Royal Watercolour Society.
Tessa Shedley Jordan's 'Gourds' is this year's winning entry.
The SEAW was inaugurated in 2007 and runs one-day classes in addition to longer and residential courses. It adopted the Royal Watercolour Society's definition of watercolours as 'any water-soluble medium on a paper support' which includes acrylic paints and gouache if painted on paper.
The spring exhibition is sponsored by Tindalls of Newmarket and is open daily, except Sunday, from 9.00 am - 5.00pm. Saturday 10.00am - 4.00pm.
